If you weren’t aware of it yet, boils are actually hair follicles which become infected, either through bacteria or fungus or as a side effect of treatment with antibiotics. Boils can also be caused by a weak (or weakened) immune system, and can be chronic or acute. The problem with boils is that not only can they be painful – they can also be embarrassing. So how do you treat boils and prevent them from recurring? Here are some natural remedies you need to know to do away with boils on inner thighs, armpits, and other areas once and for all.

The cures

There are several different cures and treatments for boils, including toothpaste, Epsom salts, aloe vera, and apple cider vinegar. Let’s have a look at how you can make use of these remedies:

  • Toothpaste

Toothpaste is not just for cleaning the teeth – it can be used to treat boils as well. Simply apply a dab of toothpaste on the boil, and leave the paste on for a few hours. Afterwards, rinse it off with some water and then apply another dab. This cure is quite quick – you can see the results as soon as the next day.

  • Epsom salts

Epsom salts, whilst known for being a cure for other ailments, can be also be a cure for boils. If you have a boil inner thigh, just add about two cups of the salts to some hot water in a bath. Soak your body in the bath for as long as you want, then repeat the same thing the next day (and the next) until you get results. You can also make a compress with a teaspoon of Epsom salts and a cup or two of hot water. Get a clean cloth and dip it into the solution and apply the cloth to the affected area. Do this two or three times a day.

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is one of the most effective natural treatments for boils – and it’s also very easy to apply. Just crack and open an aloe vera leaf (make sure it’s fresh), and apply the gel in the leaf to the area. This does not only cure the boil – it also relieves pain. If you don’t have an aloe vera plant, you can just buy some gel at your local pharmacist.

  • Apple cider vinegar

Not surprisingly, apple cider vinegar is once again on the list of cures. This popular natural remedy has a list of proven merits for various diseases, including the cure of boils. The vinegar helps disinfect the boil, thereby killing the bacteria as well. Additionally, apple cider vinegar helps bring relief from pain and reduces swelling. You can either apply it directly or dilute it with a bit of water if your skin is sensitive.
