Some common and healthy methods of cooking include steaming, grilling, baking, roasting, stir frying etc.

Steaming method of cooking:

This is one of the healthiest ways of cooking foods. Steaming involves cooking foods in a perforated vessel, which is placed over hot/boiling water. When water boils it produce steam (which is very hot) which cooks the food. Steaming is healthy, because it preserves the nutrients in a food such as vitamins and minerals. Steaming also makes foods tasty. To improve taste as well as nutritional value of steamed food, one can add flavor (such as garlic, herbs, lemon juice and other spices) to the water.

Grilling method of cooking:

this is another healthy way of cooking, especially meat and fish. Grilling exposes the food to direct heat. Grilled meat and fish have lesser fat content, because during grilling fat drips off which helps to lower fat content of the grilled food. Vegetables can also grilled, which helps to preserve vitamins and minerals of vegetables and improve nutritional value. However, while grilling vegetables it is important to remember not to use too much oil/butter or sauce.

Baking method of cooking:

baking is not only for desserts. Baking can be used for preparing vegetables, fish and meat. In baking, dry hot air of oven is used for cooking. However, do not add sauce, because during baking food is cooked with its own juice and no extra juice/water/oil is required.

Roasting method of cooking:

Roasting is a dry method of cooking and involve cooking in an open pan, unlike steaming of baking, which are done in closed container. During roasting food is exposed to very high temperature and cooks very fast due to it. Meat, fish, potatoes and other vegetables can be roasted, which makes the food tasty and healthy.

Stir- fry method of cooking:

This method is mainly used for cooking vegetables, which allow it to cook very fast, in 5-6 minutes. Stir-frying is done in a large pan, and it needs very little oil for frying, because the technique involves stirring food continuously. Do not add sauce for stir-frying.
