6 Tips To Retain Mobility

As we grow older there is an increasing chance of losing mobility. This comes at the price of our health. Losing mobility can lead to type 2 diabetes and other health problems. Give the following tips a try in order to main your health and mobility.
1. Low impact exercises. Engage in low impact exercises such as stationary cycling or short walks. Make sure to walk on even and level paths. Physicians also recommend taking up swimming, which is an excellent low impact way to maintain mobility.
2. Knee health. Strengthening your knees will help you to avoid injury. Try sitting in a flat backed chair and lifting your legs until they point straight outward. If this feels alright, try pointing your toes outward as well and holding for a moment before carefully lowering your legs.
3. Hip health. Consult a doctor before engaging in any exercise routine. To strengthen your hips you can try laying flat on your back. Pull your knees up but keep your feet flat on the floor. Now try to move your hips upward no further than a straight arch between your shoulders and knees. If this position feels fine trying holding it for a moment before bringing your pelvis back down.
4. Back health. Try stretching your back to increase circulation and reduce stiffness. A good back exercise is to lay on your belly and gently push yourself upward. You should feel this stretching in your back. If it feels painful stop the exercise. Only do what feels right and you are capable of doing. Hold this position for a moment and then ease down. You can also try pushing up farther with your hands. This is a position commonly utilized in yoga.
5. Diet. Adopt a diet plan that includes calcium for stronger bone health. Make sure that your diet includes a good balance of fruits, vegetables, protein and fiber. This type of diet plan will keep your energy up and bones strong to help you maintain your mobility.
6. Avoid injury. Utilize a walker or cane to help prevent cataclysmic accidents that will impede your mobility. Avoid steps and unnecessary stresses or strains on your body. Consider a hip, back or knee brace that will relieve stress and impact in these areas. By relieving tension, you are able to exercise more and strengthen these muscles.

Strengthening and keeping a good body is in your control. Take action to maintain your mobility.
