6 Tips To Retain Mobility

As we grow older there is an increasing chance of losing mobility. This comes at the price of our health. Losing mobility can lead to type 2 diabetes and other health problems. Give the following tips a try in order to main your health and mobility.

1. Low impact exercises. Engage in low impact exercises such as stationary cycling or short walks. Make sure to walk on even and level paths. Physicians also recommend taking up swimming, which is an excellent low impact way to maintain mobility.

2. Knee health. Strengthening your knees will help you to avoid injury. Try sitting in a flat backed chair and lifting your legs until they point straight outward. If this feels alright, try pointing your toes outward as well and holding for a moment before carefully lowering your legs.

The Health Benefits of Riding Your Bike

It’s sort of amazing how little exercise modern man (and woman) gets these days. Most of us are so busy with work, families, running errands, and managing a household that we can barely squeeze everything in. So naturally, we put our personal needs and even our health at the tail end of a long to-do list. But if you’re not taking care of yourself, you’re going to feel lousy and begin to notice a drop-off in performance and efficiency over time. The point is, you need to make time to do the things that are going to keep you healthy, happy, and at the top of your game. In this regard, riding a bike can provide many of the health benefits you seek.

Although many people have to contend with a long commute that makes it impossible to ride a bike to work, there are plenty of you out there who live within a few miles of your place of employment, meaning you could be riding to and from work (weather permitting). Even those who have to travel a ways to bring home the bacon could be using public transportation part of the way and biking the rest (avoiding the gridlock that makes their morning and evening commute unbearable). Think about it not only for your physical health, but your own peace of mind, as well.

Common Concerns & Their Solution during Pregnancy

There are certain concerns during pregnancy, especially for the first timer. Concerns like what can be done and what can’t be done. What can be eaten and what can’t be eaten. What type of cloths should be worn? If one can travel during pregnancy? What are the exercises are allowed etc.

Exercise: In general, it is not necessary to limit exercise during pregnancy, provided she does not become fatigued or risk injury. Pregnant women improve their metabolic efficiency during exercise and pregnant women who exercise regularly have significant increase in blood volume. If there is no contraindication for exercise like high blood pressure, pregnant women should be encouraged to do moderate intensity exercise for 30 minutes per day like brisk walking. Pregnant women can also do yoga regularly.
