Refrigeration in Medical Field

Refrigeration is an essential requirement in various field of medicine. Refrigeration is required in Hospitals, Nursing homes, Laboratories and Clinical Research Organizations and also in the field of every medical research. Different types of refrigerators are available for medical use and this refrigerators provide suitable for medical refrigeration. Medical refrigerators generally comes with CFC free refrigeration system and insulation.

The required temperature for medical refrigeration is +2ºC and +8ºC. But in general the household refrigerators maintain internal air temperature between +4ºC and +8ºC. Apart from maintaining internal air temperature between +2ºC and +8ºC there are also few special facilities required for the refrigerators to be used in the field of medicine. These special features in the refrigerators include

  1. Multifunctional alarm system.
  2. The door of the refrigerator should be made of good quality transparent glass.
  3. Digital display of temperature, humidity etc. and internal fluorescent light.
  4. Microprocessor digital temperature control with MAX/MIN (maximum-minimum) memory for continuous monitoring.
  5. Automatic defrosting is also required.
  6. Shelves of the refrigerator should be removable.
  7. The interior should be safe, smooth and spark free.
  8. Audio-visual alarm signal on temperature deviation, with remote alarm terminals providing mains failure alarm signal.
  9. Door of the refrigerator should heave lock facility for the safety of the products inside (and provision of multi key).

The refrigerators are required in medical field for various purposes. The various uses are in the blood bank, laboratory (for keeping different reagents, mediums etc. used in labs), medical stores (for storing different medicines as some injections need to be preserved under refrigeration), safe storage of vaccines etc. and many more use.
