Eight Good Foods That Are Good For GERD

Good food habit should be cultivated by all of us. Parents should inculcate good and healthy eating habits to their children. If you have acid reflux disease or GERD, it is important to avoid certain foods in GERD and consume certain foods, which are good for acid reflux disease.

The following foods should be taken in acid reflux disease:

Oatmeal:

Oatmeal is one of the healthiest breakfast options we have, even if you are not suffering from acid reflux disease. Oatmeal is recommended by most expert dieticians and medical practitioners for acid reflux disease as well as for most individuals.

Green vegetables and root vegetables:

Eat liberal quantity of greens such as cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, green peas, green beans, asparagus, celery etc. and root vegetables (such as carrots, beetroot) which are good for acid reflux disease.

Banana:

Banana is rich with nutrients (great source of good carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals) and provide good calorie. Banana is not acidic unlike citrus fruits and most individuals with acid reflux disease report that their symptoms improve if they eat banana.

Salad:

Salad is good for acid reflux disease, although it is better to avoid onions, tomatoes etc. in salad as well as salad dressings such as cheese and high fat dressing, because fat is not good for GERD. Add leafy vegetables and root vegetables for salad.

Fish:

Fish and seafoods are good for acid reflux disease (they are good for heart health too). Frying of fish should be avoided; instead, fish (and other seafood such as shrimp, lobster, and other shellfish) should be baked, steamed or grilled.

Parsley:

It is traditionally used as home remedy for several stomach ailments including acid reflux disease.

Aloe vera:

This is popular herbal remedy for acid reflux disease, and many other health conditions. The liquid present inside the leaves can be taken or can be purchased from nearby grocery stores.

Ginger:

This is another home remedy for acid reflux and many other GIT ailments. Ginger can be taken raw or it can be used in cooking as spice.
