How to Treat Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy?

Hemorrhoids are varicose veins (tortuous and elongated veins are called varicose veins) in rectum. The symptoms of hemorrhoid may be only slight itch or it may be frank and severe pain and in late stage there may be bleeding, especially during a bowel movement such as defecation. The sizes of hemorrhoid also vary from small raisin to a large mass. The hemorrhoid or varicose veins may sometime protrude through anus as a swollen mass, which may bleed.

Pregnancy is one of the risk factors in causation of hemorrhoid or varicose veins; hence hemorrhoid is commonly seen during pregnancy. There are also several other causes of hemorrhoids such as chronic constipation. Many women develop hemorrhoid during pregnancy for the first time. But, if a woman has suffered from hemorrhoid before pregnancy, it is highly likely that the woman will suffer from varicose veins during pregnancy. Hemorrhoids may even occur during labor, especially during second stage of labor, when the pregnant woman pushes the baby down to birth canal.

Common Concerns & Their Solution during Pregnancy
