Indigestion and its Causes

Indigestion is a nonspecific term that covers a variety of upper abdominal complaints such nausea, vomiting, heartburn, regurgitation, dyspepsia (the presence of symptoms thought to originate in the gastro-duodenal region) etc. which affect patients’ health state in a negative way. Dyspepsia may be reported by some individuals as epigastric burning, gnawing discomfort in abdomen, or abdominal pain. Some individuals with dyspepsia experience a constellation of symptoms such as postprandial fullness (feeling of fullness of stomach for long time after meal), early satiety (an inability to complete a meal due to premature fullness), bloating, eructation or belching and anorexia.

What is Porphyria?

Porphyrias are a group of metabolic disorders and each of the porphyrias result due to deficiency of a specific enzyme in the heme biosynthetic pathway. These enzyme deficiencies are inherited as autosomal dominant or recessive traits (the only exception being porphyria cutanea tarda or PCT which usually is sporadic). In the causation of porphyrias, environmental, physiological and genetic factors play complex roles with their interaction to each other.

Know About Polymorphous light eruption

Polymorphous light eruption or PLE is the commonest form of photosensitivity disease after exposure to sun. The exact mechanism of development of PLE is not clearly known. Most of the individuals who suffer from PLE never seek medical attention due to the fact that PLE is often transient, which generally manifest at the initial exposure to sun during spring and then subsides spontaneously if the individual continue exposure to sun, which is known as “hardening” in common language. Most of the individual think and accept “hardening” as a natural phenomena after exposure to sun and accept it as natural and do not seek medical attention.
